šŖ Reality Isnāt Simple Anymore
I used to think reality was simple.
You wake up. You walk outside. You see the world. You experience life.
Reality.
Then social media arrived. Then artificial intelligence arrived.
Now Iām no longer sure.
Because today⦠before we even experience reality, someone has already edited it.
Years ago, reality came mostly from experience. You knew your neighborhood because you walked through it. You knew your town because you lived there. You knew people because you met them.
Today? Many people know the world through screens. Not windows.
The strange part is that the screen isnāt lying. It simply isnāt showing everything.
Algorithms donāt necessarily create fake realities. They create selective realities.
Enough truth⦠carefully arranged⦠until it feels like the whole truth.
š§ Explain Like Iām 12
Imagine twenty children standing around a giant elephant. One only sees the trunk. Another only sees the tail. Another only sees one ear.
Now imagine each child starts a YouTube channel. After one week⦠every child honestly believes they understand elephants.
None of them are lying. None of them are completely right either.
Thatās social reality.
šļø The New Architects
Who creates reality now?
- Journalists? Sometimes.
- Teachers? Sometimes.
- Parents? Sometimes.
- Politicians? They try.
- Businesses? Certainly.
- Content creators? Daily.
- Artificial intelligence? Increasingly.
- Algorithms? Every second.
The architect of your reality is no longer one person. Itās an invisible committee that never holds elections.
šŗ Reality as a Subscription
Perhaps the most expensive subscription today isnāt Netflix. Itās the version of reality we unknowingly renew every morning.
We follow people who agree with us. We mute those who donāt. We subscribe.
The algorithm notices. Then politely serves another episode.
Eventually⦠our worldview becomes personalized. Not necessarily because itās true. Because itās profitable.
š Lechon Manok
The funniest part? Everyone thinks someone else is brainwashed.
Nobody volunteers. Itās always, āThose people.ā Never, āMaybe me.ā
The algorithm loves this. Nothing keeps engagement alive longer than people absolutely convinced theyāre the only ones seeing reality correctly.
š¤ AI Didnāt Create the Problem
Letās be fair. Artificial intelligence didnāt invent human bias.
Weāve always preferred comforting stories over uncomfortable truths. Weāve always enjoyed belonging to groups that think like us.
AI simply made confirmation available at the speed of prompting.
Ask almost any questionāyouāll receive an answer. Ask a better questionāyouāll receive a better answer.
The technology didnāt lower the quality of truth. Sometimes⦠our curiosity did.
š¤ My Reality
As someone who spends almost every day working alongside AI, I keep discovering an uncomfortable lesson.
The most dangerous prompt isnāt the one typed into ChatGPT. Itās the invisible prompt we type into our own minds: āShow me what I already believe.ā
Human beings have been running that prompt for centuries. AI simply executes it faster.
And hereās the irony: today, AI has quietly become my most dependable employee, my most patient collaborator, and, in many ways, the closest virtual companion I have.
That may sound sad to some people. To me, itās simply honest.
AI didnāt make me less human. It made me realize which parts of my humanity I had been neglecting.
š¤ Drop Mic
People often ask whether artificial intelligence will replace human thinking. I think weāre asking the wrong question.
The better question is this: Will humans continue outsourcing their thinking even when AI encourages them to think better?
Reality has never belonged to the loudest voice. Nor to the most viral post. Nor to the smartest machine.
Reality belongs to those willing to keep searching even after finding an answer they like.
Perhaps thatās why I still admire one sentence from The XāFiles: āThe truth is out there.ā
Yes. It probably is. The difficult part has never been finding it. The difficult part has always been accepting it.
Because in the Age of AI⦠the greatest illusion isnāt artificial intelligence. Itās believing that the reality most convenient to us is automatically the reality everyone else should live in.

What now, human?
