For more than three decades in the IT industry, academe, and hard life, I’ve been obsessed with one deceptively simple skill: asking questions.
Before AI, asking was about survival—students asking teachers, employees asking bosses, entrepreneurs asking mentors. But in the Age of AI, asking has become an art form. It’s no longer about “knowing the answer.” It’s about knowing how to ask.
🎭 Why “Smart” Backfires
I’ve seen it too many times: a company hires the “smartest” new graduate—Latin honors, sharp suit, high IQ. They are full of answers. But within a week, that brilliance is stifled. Why? Because they are being “onboarded” by a tenured manager or boss who hasn’t read a book since 2012.
Too often, these bright minds are trained by someone who isn’t so smart—sometimes even an epal. The result is a tragic inbreeding of knowledge, where brilliance gets diluted by noise, office politics, and outdated practices.
This is exactly why I wrote Why Smart Does Not Mean Rich. Intelligence alone doesn’t guarantee success. Without the art of asking, smart people end up trapped in systems that reward noise over wisdom.

⚡ The Age of AI: Asking Becomes Power
Dealing with super-intelligent AI isn’t about being the smartest person in the room. It’s about being the best asker.
AI is the ultimate equalizer, but it is also a mirror of your own clarity:
- AI doesn’t reward arrogance. It rewards clarity.
- AI doesn’t reward noise. It rewards precision.
The difference between a mediocre, “hallucinated” answer and a breakthrough insight lies entirely in the prompt. You are no longer limited by what your “epal” boss knows; you are only limited by what you have the courage and skill to ask.
🤫 The Power of the Prompt
I’ve explored this deeply in Prompt Literacy vs Fluency: Filipino AI Strategy and throughout our prompt archive.
The prompt is the new currency. It’s the way you frame your question, the context you provide, and the clarity you demand. A good prompt can save hours of work, unlock hidden insights, and level the playing field between the “traditional smart” and the Silent Builder. In the old world, the one with the answers had the power. In the AI world, the one with the best questions runs the show.
🚀 Call to Action: Master the Question
At AIWhyLive.com, I continue to explore how Filipinos can master the art of asking—through prompt literacy, practical AI tricks, and silent building strategies.
The “Smart” people of the old world are panicking because their answers are now free. The Silent Builders are thriving because they know how to command the machine.
Don’t just be a user. Be an Architect of Inquiry.
