Globe vs. PLDT Showdown: A Comedy of Errors and Regrets in the World of Philippine Telcos!

I’ve been in a committed relationship with Globe for over 12 years – it’s like a long-term marriage, with its ups and a few hiccups along the way. I mean, who doesn’t love a bit of drama in their love life?

For a solid decade, I stuck with Globe DSL, then they upgraded me to Fiber with a 24-month lock-in contract. It’s like renewing vows after ten years – hoping for an even better union, you know?

So, after 27 months of dealing with this circus, I decided to call it quits with Globe – no divorce laws in the Philippines, but I’m setting myself free!

Enter PLDT – my rebound, my knight in shining armor! It’s like all my bags were packed, and I was leaving my “not-so-happily-ever-after” with Globe.

Thanks to Globe’s hardheadedness, I couldn’t avail of PLDT’s switcher promo. I could’ve saved half the monthly price for six months and got some freebies. Globe, you need a reality check – consider this a punchline!

So, I took the plunge and signed a 36-month lock-in contract with PLDT. Three years feels like forever in the Telco world, right? I guess I’m married again – no alimony, please!

Damn, PLDT’s internet was faster than Globe by a mile! It’s like a honeymoon offer – a whirlwind romance that made me forget the past.

But guess what? PLDT decided to reveal its true self within a week of service. More downtime than uptime – it’s like their network got a case of the Monday blues, but every day!

And let’s talk about PLDT’s modem – it boots up slower than a Windows NT server from the ’90s! Seriously, I could make a cup of coffee while waiting for it to connect.

Yes, I must admit, I regret switching to PLDT, and you know what? I’m blaming Globe for it too! It’s like a comedy sketch gone wrong – and I’m the punchline.

But in the end, I can only blame myself for falling into this Telco mess. Love is blind, they say, and I guess the same applies to internet love affairs.

Oh, the comedy and chaos of Philippine Telcos! If only Globe or PLDT had an AI chatbot like ChatGPT or Bard – they could’ve saved themselves from this satirical but all-too-real article. Till next time, folks, keep laughing and remember, in the world of Telcos, it’s always an adventure!

It happened to me and it is doomed to happen to anybody. Both Globe and PLDT can prove me right or otherwise but I will stand strong and witty for I got the receipt to prove.

They can argue all they want but I think they’d rather serve us with utmost best in which we all rightfully deserve so.

Despite of the long hours of PLDT downtime, I think I can manage to give this article a satirical happy ending.

And so, I regret switching to PLDT, yes. And I blamed Globe for it, yes. And yes, I blamed myself. But then I dialed PLDT Hotline 171, only to be answered by a sweet caring, empathetic and honest voice. Something I missed from Globe during pandemic and onward.

And then, guess what? I was hold for a couple of minutes with Moira Dela Torre – Pag-Ibig ang Piliin as background music.

While writing this ending, my Internet was still down. Was I mad? Of course, not. I am not looking for a perfect ISP. I only wanted a service that understands their subscriber.

 Isaac Ruble was right, only stupid people will be replace and their jobs! Kudos to PLDT tech support who made my day despite of the downtime. You Sir will not be replaced by an AI!
